What Is a Tandem Cycle?

A tandem cycle is a special IVF protocol in which both the mother-to-be's own eggs and donor eggs are used simultaneously within the same treatment cycle.

It is designed for women whose ovarian reserve is reduced but not completely depleted: the chance of pregnancy with your own eggs is preserved, while embryos created from donor eggs provide reassurance. The two groups of embryos are developed separately and the healthiest are assessed.

This approach combines the wish to 'first try with my own eggs' with the high success of donation in a single treatment. Not practised in Turkey, this method is legal in North Cyprus (TRNC); at Clavis, donor matching is carried out with rigorous criteria and complete confidentiality.

Key Points

  • Own + donor eggs in the same cycle
  • Maximises the chance in low reserve
  • Two embryo groups developed separately
  • Legal in the TRNC; complete confidentiality assured
